About Us

Empowering Communities for Equitable Social and Economic Change

Established on September 14, 1982, under the guidance of Sri Bajrang Singh, a dedicated social worker, Badlao Foundation is a registered community-based organization. Witnessing the distressing conditions faced by tribal communities, Sri Bajrang Singh felt compelled to initiate a transformative journey towards improving their socio-economic well-being.

Operating as a grassroots non-governmental organization (NGO) in the Santhal Parganas region of Jharkhand, Badlao Foundation has been extensively involved in various districts including Jamtara, Godda, Sahebgunj, Pakur, Dumka, and Deoghar. Throughout these years, our overarching goal has been to improve the nutritional, health, and educational status of tribal populations and marginalized groups. We strive to ensure their access to social security and government assistance programs offered by the Jharkhand and Indian governments.

Our work primarily focuses on two key areas: promoting the livelihoods and rights of tribal populations and underprivileged communities, with a special emphasis on women; and strengthening primary institutions and gram sabhas (village councils) to enhance the delivery of public services to the local population.

Recognizing gender discrimination as a major contributor to inequality within these groups, we consider women's empowerment crucial for achieving social equality. Our approach involves establishing women's self-help groups (SHGs) at the village level and federating them into Mahila-sabhas (women's assemblies) at the district and state levels.

Presently, we actively operate in 602 villages through diverse projects. Our choice of operational areas and target populations reflects our deliberate efforts to provide equal opportunities and freedom to socially, economically, and geographically marginalized groups. We specifically concentrate on remote, interior, and underdeveloped regions of Santhal Parganas, where access to other agents of change is limited.
