About Badlao Foundation

For 41 years, Badlao Foundation has been working at the grassroots in the Santhal Parganas of Jharkhand and has been to establish itself as a promising organisation in the State. While our focus has been to ensure sustainable livelihood, food security, leading to improved health & nutrition, we also endeavour to provide quality education and access to various social security and social assistance schemes of state and central governments to the tribal, PVTGs (Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups) and other marginalised groups. Along these 41 years of our existence we have made our footprints in over 9 districts in the State of Jharkhand covering 13 Blocks.

About the Project

This project focuses on strengthening the capacities of local communities in 3 districts of Jharkhand viz- Godda, Gumla and Lohardaga, for creating an enabling ecosystem for the community to protect their interests and livelihoods. It further aims at creating a resilient forest-dependent community.  As the Project Lead, you will play a critical role in supporting your team, community leaders, Government functionaries and other stakeholders.  Your expertise will guide stakeholders towards sustainable solutions that improve livelihoods and protect the environment.

Core responsibilities include:

 As a for this project, you will play a critical role in supporting documentation

Following documentation shall be done:

  1. Case Story Compilation
  2. Process Mapping and documenting the processes
  3. Project MIS Updation and management
  4. Supporting the Project lead in module development on Community Forest Management
  5.  Facilitating centralized trainings on different aspects of Community Forest Management and Livelihood Enhancement through forest economy
  6. Supporting the organizational documentation needs like preparing concept notes, supporting in proposal development
  7. Regularly visiting the field locations for supporting the team in the implementation of various project activities
  8. Facilitate the processes of federating the women enterprises in the 3 districts along with the teams.
  9. Any other activity as per organization guidance and requirement

Identification of Community Mobilisers and Guide them:

  1. To identify of Community Mobilisers from either of the districts and guide them towards the implementation of the project
  2. These CM will be selected based on their prior experience, age, knowledge about the local area and access to technology (at least a smartphone)
  3. These CMs will be point persons at the village level. 
  4.  Train these CMs on various community management practices
  5. ·Federate the district level stakeholders at the State level along with the other stakeholders from other districts

Planning & Implementation:

  1. Planning of the activities to be implemented in the community and executing the community engagement work (Monthly & Quarterly basis).
  2. Mobilizing the community influencers and stakeholder for different meetings at block level for awareness generation and effective implementation of the program.
  3. Ensure all planned program related field activities according to timeline and assist community mobilizer and also overall team to prepare periodical weekly, monthly reports along with plan for next phase.

Supporting & Monitoring:

·         Work closely with Block level CSOs, CBOs networks and alliances to take forward the Organization domains of work.

·         Oversee and provide necessary support to the program team in the block for effective delivery of the program.

Liaison & Reporting:

·         Liaison with range of stakeholders (private sector; CSOs; human rights groups; local leaders, local administration) up to district level.

·         Taking lead in district & block liaison and advocacy with administration on community led demands.

·          Facilitate and guide in the best way to empower the community at the district level work and reporting its progress.

Skill and Competence:

·         Liaison skills with government and multi stakeholders at district level

·         Ability to work with alliances and networks and district level

·         Strong interpersonal and networking skills

·         Ability to do advocacy with administration and other relevant stakeholders 

·         Ability to articulate issues and put forth to various stakeholders

·         Ability to connect ground level issues with macro situation 

·         Sound writing and reporting skills

·         Sound understanding on community engagement and community processes

·         Strong perspective on gender and social exclusion issues

·         Ability to handle multiple tasks and conflicting situation

·         Positive outlook and interest to take up challenges

·         Focused work experience on gender/ women’s rights and social inclusion/ diversity in relevant sector would be desirable.

Qualifications & Experiences:

·         Master Degree in any discipline. (MSW/ Environmental Science/ Rural Management)

·         Minimum 3 years of experience in implementing projects- preference will be given to the ones having prior experience of forest rights, Natural Resource Management, and Livelihood promotion

•        Knowledge of evidence-based techniques and interventions.

•        Collaborative approach, working effectively with community, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

•        Empathy, compassion, and sensitivity towards the challenges faced by community

•        Knowledge of ethical guidelines and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

•        Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with diverse populations.

•        Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.

•        Flexibility and adaptability to work in dynamic and challenging situations.

Skills & Competencies

•        Fluency in English and Hindi, Santhali.

•        Fluency in Santhali will be an added advantage.

•        Open-mindedness, desire to learn and adapt.

•        Takes initiative and can work independently and in teams.

Remuneration:

Salary within a range of INR 30,000-35,000 per month and travel allowance would be extra. 

Traveling- Field movements are expected upto 15-20 days in a month across the 3 districts in Jharkhand-Gumla, Lohardaga and Godda. 

 The final salary will also depend on the performance evaluation of the candidate by recruiters in the interview/group discussion rounds.
